Catalina 2010

Another memorable trip to Catalina, the Island of Romance! I think we all took this opportunity to miss my mother, while enjoying the family
reunion on her behalf.

The Pavilion Lodge had been remodeled over the winter, transformed into "The Pavilion Hotel" -- and they did a lovely job! Rooms refreshed, garden re-landscaped (lovely, tho precluding any more mass volleyball tournaments!), and the addition of a fire pit & evening wine tasting area were great tou

Another great addition to Catalina fun was the Zip Line! Starting near the entrance to Hamilton Cove, a string of 5 lines over steep canyons definitely get one's heart pumping -- I defy anyone NOT to scream -- "ZIP A-WAYYY!"

Already made reservations for next year -- would like to see this tradition definitely continue.

Standing on the very spot of my earliest memory in life, outside the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum in Banff, Alberta, Canada. I remember it was a sunny day, I was standing on the banks of this river, I was barely taller than the grass, and there was a dragonfly ... the beginning of a very good life!
* found my mother's diary of this very trip, and now know this was Wednesday, June 8, 1960 ... so, it's not my first memory, but a very special one, one that lay forgotten until I happened to drive by the spot I thought I'd never been & was suddenly overwhelmed with deja vu. Memory is a fascinating thing, sometimes laying dormant and waiting for a smell, a sound, some trigger, to bring it all back, so fresh.
